Between bad weather and getting out of work late, I’ve been reduced to a mere gym rat for my cardio. Rather than get on the horrific treadmill, I choose to get my cardio done on a stationary bike and an eliptical whatever its called. To be honest, I’ve enjoyed the last two days of cardio on these contraptions.
Take yesterday for instance, I managed to start reading a new book. I’m reading Michael Crichton’s “Travels”. The book? So far, so good…a little gross, though.
Today, I was able to catch up on my npr listening and, on my movie watching. That’s right. While I was on the bike, I listened to npr on my iphone and, I watched zombieland on the iphone as I did the eliptical thing. It was great! Loads of fun, I assure you. You can’t really watch a movie or read a book while you run now, can you? At least, not when running out doors…I’ll step on every crab if I try that at the rails…or, I’ll get run over if I try that on hwy 80 going toward Tybee Island. So, its been fun. And, I’m getting a bit spoiled.
I need to get back outside and run again. I got my headlight ready for my night runs. Tomorrow, I’ll make myself leave work early and I’ll churn out 6 to 8 miles just for kicks. On Thursday, I’ll be back in the gym to lift weights and go another round on the bike and eliptical rider/trainer-whatever that dang thing is called.
Wildlife Inventory:
Crap. That’s right. There is no wildlife inventory in the gym…not even a cockroach. I need to get outdoors! I need to see some wildlife!
On a sad note, I decided not to run the Atlanta half-marathon on Thanksgiving day. Yeah, I know…very sad but what can we do? You can give me $65.00 and then I’ll do it. Otherwise, forget about it. Yeah, that’s what it comes down to. I just don’t want to spend $65.00 to run a half-marathon. That just seems a bit excessive, don’t you think? Running races are just getting too expensive these days. Whatever happened to $25.00 races? Geez, I miss the good old days when you could run a half-marathon for 25 bucks and you still got a shirt! That’s the price we pay for progress, I guess.
Anyway, I’m not doing the half in Atlanta because I’m cheap. Or, because I’m frugal with my money. No, I’m just cheap.
So, here’s what I’ve done the last couple of days at the gym:
11/09/09:
- 30 minutes on the stationary bike: 11 miles
- 30 minutes on the eliptical thingamajigger: 3 miles
11/10/2009:
- 30 minutes, stationary bike: 8 miles
- 30 minutes, eliptical whatchamacallit: 3.2 miles
Ok, that’s it.
Thanks for taking the time to read my running non-running blog.
Love, peace and whatchamacallit,
dh
