Today was a very busy, crazy day at work. So much happening all at once! Any way, after work I hit the Island’s Y, worked out pretty darn good and then ran 3.78 miles through the new Island’s Y trail. What a very nice trail! Actually, it’s quite beautiful. My only dislike about this trail is that it is not long enough! I wish this trail was 12 miles long!
Today, I felt strong while lifting weights and when running. I normally do not run a race pace during my training runs but I felt good and strong and, I needed to unwind from a very hectic day at work. So, I took off from the start of the run.
I clocked the first two miles at a 5:57 minute mile pace. Unfortunately, there’s a price to pay when you take off like a bat out of you know where! As I approached the three mile mark I began to deteriorate very rapidly. As I approached the finish I was huffing and puffing! I finished the 3.78 mile run at 24:44. That’s a 6:32 minute mile pace. Normally, that’s not bad pace but comparing it to the two mile mark, I was falling apart. It’s going to take a long time for me to build up a strong pace for the marathon distance.
- 1 duck
- 2 dogs
- lots of runners
I need to start doing long runs again. Yesterday I ran 10.31 and that wasn’t bad but I need to start boosting the miles more. This coming weekend I’m doing 13 for my long run. The following weekend I’m shooting for 15. I have to build up my base again and will.
Not much else to write about. I’m thinking about doing this half-marathon coaching that Fleet Feet advertised about. They are looking for people to help train runners for a 1/2 marathon. I can do that. I would like to do that. That would be fun. Who knows, I might meet a single pretty girl that likes to run. 🙂
Tonight, I’m also going to finally blog a bit more about my Kilimanjaro trip. Specifically, I’m going to cover the descent.
Ok, I have to run to the bathroom.
Thanks for stopping by.
All the best to you and yours.
