A Four Miler before the Rain Started

Wilmington River from the big pier at the end of Mechanics Ave. Heavy duty dark clouds coming in

I ran 4.41 miles this evening.  I did not run on Sunday nor Monday.  Just call me lazy.  I really do not like how that sounds but unfortunately it’s the truth.  And, you know what they say, – the truth hurts.  Yeah, I was lazy.  I had a very busy Sunday and Monday and making an excuse not to run was easier than usual.  I make it sound like I do not like to run.  I love to run.  I just hate the effort it takes to run.  If I could take a pill that gave me the same satisfaction that running gives me I may become addicted to those pills.  Wow!  TMI?  Yeah, I think I’m sharing too much.

I ran from my house to Bonaventure to Herbed and then to Downing.  I followed Downing to the Coach’s corner and then I ran up Victory for about 23 seconds before tucking into Whatley and cruising up River drive.  I then caught Dogwood and took that to Mechanics.  I followed Mechanics until it ended at the Wilmington River and I snapped a picture of the incoming clouds and rain.  I ran back up Mechanics and into Fennel.  Fennel took me to Bonaventure road and I followed that road until Idaho to Delaware to New York.  New York took me to New Jersey and I followed Jersey home.  That was a lot of geography for such a short run. ;)

Wildlife inventory:

  • 2 dogs
  • 2 mocking birds
  • 20 sparrows
  • 1 robin
  • 1 cat

clouds over the old dairy farm

The rain held out until I made it home.  That was good.  I was running with my iphone and I was fearful of getting caught in another downpour with my iphone.  We all know the great luck I have with iphones and rain.  not a very good track record, I’m afraid.  I’ve ruined three iphones due to rain.

I ran tonight in my blue bikilas and did not use any Body Glide on my feet.  I did not have any problems with my blue bikilas and friction.  This frictional problem seems isolated strictly with my bikilas ls.  There is something about the bikilas ls that I end up developing a good bit of friction on the ball of my foot, below the big toe and middle toe.  And, this does not happen with my blue bikilas nor my now retired red bikilas.  I know a lady named Barbara that has the same problem with her bikilas ls as I do.  She just bought a pair of Seeya’s and says that she doesn’t have that friction problem with the Seeya’s.  I’m beginning to think that there is a flaw in the bikilas ls, unfortunately.  I say unfortunately because I think the bikilas ls are darn good looking shoes and I hate that they may be flawed because that means I will never buy another pair of the bikilas ls.  I’ll stick with the regular old bikilas and soon, I’ll transition to the Seeya’s.

Tonight’s running playlist:

All the very best to you and yours.
