I ran with a fig and got framed

I got framed on the Thunderbolt bridge

Yesterday, I ran 9.73 miles in Thunderbolt.  It was loads of fun, although, my feet were just a bit tender toward the end of the run.  I ran in my New Balance Minimus trail shoes.  I love those shoes but they are not great on asphalt.  They are designed for trail running.  That’s another story, though.

In this summer heat, my feet sweat profusely.  All that sweat makes my feet very soggy and easily prone to blisters.  At the end of my run a couple of blisters had formed on the bottom of my feet.  Later today, I plan to run again but in my VFF Bikilas.  My sweaty feet tend to do better in vff’s than in shoes that do not have the toe inserts.  So, we’ll see how my feet fare later today when I attempt a 12 miler in Ft. Pulaski.

the protractor or whatever that i found on the Thunderbolt bridge

As for my run yesterday, it began in front of my house and took me down Mechanics Ave to it’s end where the Wilmington River pier is at and then up and over the Thunderbolt bridge where I found a nifty screen frame which I photographed myself with.  I also found part of a weight or protractor or something on that bridge.  The Thunderbolt bridge is like the magical bridge.  I always find really cool things on it.  I have found the following neat items on the Thunderbolt bridge…

Thunderbolt Bridge Magic:

  1. A Buzz Lightyear toy.
  2. A Pinnochio toy
  3. A protractor or whatever that is.
  4. A whole pizza with pepperoni
  5. A plastic bouquet of flowers
  6. A small American flag
  7. A screen frame
  8. A whole box of oatmeal cookies

Pretty interesting, eh?

fig I ran with

I continued my run into Isle of Armstrong where I came upon a fig filled tree.  I had to stop and check out the figs.  I love figs.  Any way, the owner of the tree saw me admiring the tree and called out to me to take one.  So, I did!  And, I ran with that fig the remainder of the distance which was 3.73 more miles.  That must be some kind of record because I’ve never heard of anyone running with a fig in hand for that distance.  I believe that’s a first for the human race!

I forgot to mention that I ran into Forest Lawn and Greenwich and, Bonaventure cemeteries.  It was a quick in and out.  I started the run in blistering heat.  I was then caught in a five minute downpour and then was back in blistering heat.  Savannah running in the summer is always an adventure, I tell ya.
