A run through the woods is an adventuresome trail run in it’s purest form! Much of the trail is winding single track. You will have to keep your eyes and feet in sync to avoid tripping over roots. The woods you’re running through are made up of tall live oaks and pines! The Whitemarsh Preserve, where you will be running offer the very best real and raw trails in the Savannah area!
This race is part of Run 4 a Reason’s Rough Runners Trail Running series worth 17 maximum points.
Location: Whitemarsh Preserve, Savannah, Ga 31410. coordinates: 32.02977338542001, -81.0003184920044
The course is approximately 3 miles long. It follows the excellent winding mtb trails at the Whitemarsh preserve. The course is marked with surveyor flags. Keep an eye out for these flags. If you follow the flags you will not get lost nor inadvertently run the wrong course.
Course difficulty: the trail is flat but rated moderately difficult due to the many winding parts of it.
Start Time: 8:00 am: all distances
The main entrance gate to Whitemarsh Preserve (on Johnny Mercer Blvd, just north of the Bryan Woods and Johnny Mercer blvd intersection) will be open. Please drive slowing up the fire road until you reach the clearing. A parking attendant will direct you where to park.
Packet Pickup: is on race day at race location. Packets will be available for pickup by 7:15, Sunday morning. Your packet will include the following:
- race shirt

- 5k runners run the course once, 10k twice, 15k three times.
- 1 portable toilet will be located at the main entrance of the preserve.
- Please note: if you drop down to a lower distance on race day than what you registered for, you will get a dnf on your ultrasignup standings.
We will give out prizes for the top 3 male and female of each race (5k, 10k, 15k) and first place female/male in age groups. There is an award for the DFL of each race. And, there is an award for the runner of each distance that collects the most garbage during their run. There a few mystery awards that will be given to the brave and audacious! Be prepared!
We hope you enjoy the awards. All are handmade and unique. The winning awards highlight animal spirit totems of Native Americans, making them special. All of the animal totems are of creatures that inhabit the state of Georgia, land and coast.
