Little Tybee Conquest Half-Marathon
This year's race has sold out! Please join the waitlist at ultrasignup. Run 4 a Reason apologizes for the inconvenience.
The Little Tybee Conquest is coming back around again on August 09, 2014. This time, as a 13.1 mile run!
The 2013 race featured sand dollars as awards. The 2014 awards will feature sharks. Why? Because sharks are so cool and, because they are threatened all over the world by overfishing & misunderstanding. So, 2014 is the LTC year of the shark and we will celebrate this magnificent predator of the Oceans on the awards! So get ready for your killer shark medal!
Runners will follow the Little Tybee Island coastline from North to South. At sections, the course will take you through thick palm forests. Again, the unspoiled beaches of Little Tybee will call out to you. Traversing Tree Beach will feel otherworldly.
You will confront four channel crossings which require some wading and swimming . The channel crossings vary in distance depending on the tide. The widest channel is a little over 1/3 of a mile wide. The currents are strong whether an incoming or outgoing tide. We strongly recommend that you wear a PFD (personal flotation device) and/or carry flippers with you for the furthest channel crossing.
The Little Tybee Conquest is purposely kept small with only 25 participants maximum in order to minimize our impact on this pristine Georgia Gem of an island.
Proceeds from this race will go to Nature Conservancy.

A taxi service will be available to carry runners to and from Little Tybee Island or, you may kayak to the island.
All finishers get a medal. In 2014, the medal will have a shark on it as well as the trophies.
The top 3 finishers will get awards including, 1st place male and female to cross the finish line.
And, as we did last year, we ask that you spend 10 to 15 minutes of your time on Little Tybee to pick up some garbage to haul off the island when we leave.
We want to leave the island in better shape than we found it!
