Rogue Resolution Run F.A. 50k 25k

Gypsy's Trail

Gypsy’s Trail

Definition: FAT ASS is the name given to a series of low key runs that are frequented by experienced runners & walkers and characterised by the phrase “No Fees, No Awards, No Aid, No Wimps”. Yes, the runs are totally free to enter and are put on by passionate runners who are also running.

This is the very first Fat A– in the Savannah/Thunderbolt area! And, we’re proud of that! This will be an annual event the second Saturday of January starting January 14, 2017. Let this run be the one that kicks off the new year of running, adventure and challenges for you!

We will give out hand made awards to the person who collects the most garbage while running either the 50k or 25k.
We will give an award to the runner that finishes first for the 25k and 50k.
We will give an award to the dfl of either distance.
Times will be recorded and posted on ultrasignup!

A donation jar will be placed at the aid station table should you feel motivated to donate. All donations will go to Rogue Animal Rescue. It is a donation and not a requirement, please remember that.

We do ask that you bring a snack for you and be willing to share a little with others.

You may set up tables, chairs, canopies on the beginning of the course.
The course is approximately 1.8 miles long. Run it until you reach your distance or pass out…or, just quit – don’t quit, though. Never quit!
Be there or be square!

Yes, it really is free!

Race day instructions:

Dear ladies and gents,
Thank you for your support of the Rogue Resolution Fatass 50k and 25k this weekend!

The address is: 2500 Tennessee Ave, Savannah, Ga. 31404
The start time of the race is 8:00 am for both distances.
The course is almost 2 miles long that starts you off with an almost mile long run through the woods on Gypsy’s trail.  You will also run alongside a large field that was once pasture land to the cows that lived on the old Roberd’s Dairy.
The course continues down dirt fire roads that take you through open marshland and past a very old live oak affectionally known as the Sentinel that was also featured in the old film, Forest Gump.

The 50k runners will run this course 16 times while the 25k runners will complete it 8 times.

Please arrive by 7 and allow the parking attendant to guide you where to park.
Each runner will receive a cloth bib with two safety pins attached to it.  Please use the the bib and, as you run passed the timing station call out your FULL NAME (not bib #).
On your last lap, if you so choose to, hang your bib along with the prayer flags you’ll run across on the course.

Small home made Awards will be given to the first place and last place 50k and 25k runners.
An award will be given to the runners that collect the most garbage on the course.  Bring the garbage to your personal runner station area and we’ll gauge it by the end of the race.
An award will be given to the person that happens to bring a new york style cheese cake to share with the rest of us.  If more than one cheese cake shows up the award will be broken to pieces and evenly distributed to the cheese cake bringers of joy.

Finally, an award will be given to the person that takes the best picture during the race.  Submit the picture on facebook on the group called “Lowcountry Home Brewed Running” with the hashtag: #R4Rbestracepic
There will be an online vote and the award will be mailed to the runner with the best race picture.

The wooded section of the course is single track, winds a bit and has several obstacles across its path that need to be hopped over as you run the course.  There are several mounds you’ll have to go over, including Mt. Dawn.
The fire roads you will run on are unpaved dirt.  The open marsh areas you run on are hardpacked sand.

Race times will be posted on ultrasignup by Sunday, January 15th, noon.

Please refer to the maps below for the course of the race and, for where to park and where to set up your station.
